VOSBURGH BREWING

[Branding, Logo, Creative Direction & Illustration]

Opened in Fall 2021, Vosburgh Brewing is a farm brewery in upstate New York at Vosburgh Orchards — family owned since 1839. Vosburgh’s beers are brewed with locally-sourced ingredients whenever possible, including hops grown on site. Their lineup also includes some specialty brews made with apples from their orchard.

The brewery is meant to appeal to NYC dwellers traveling upstate for the weekend as well as to small town locals who stop by for a pint. So, the goal of the branding was to feel modern and relatable without leaning too down-home, historical or upscale.

Towering over the foundation of the property, trees are a simple representation of the roots of the historic Vosburgh farm and orchard. Each of the custom illustrations is inspired by something on the farm, past or present.

The beer Boompah makes a playful reference to Grandpa Vosburgh, who was known for his thick glasses and fun personality.

If you visit Vosburgh, you’re likely to see the old truck with apple crates in the back and chickens wandering around.

The illustration for the flagship beer Terra drew inspiration from the hops grown on the farm.

Each summer the farm offers pick-your-own flowers.

Vosburgh was a home for prize-winning chickens nearly 100 years ago.

The barn, where the brewery is housed, serves as a secondary icon for the brand.

Some of the labels have been inspired by vintage barn hex signs, a frequent local sight.
